General Summary of Duties: Responsible for performing CAT scan procedures.
Examples of Duties: (This list may not include all of the duties assigned)
- Greets patients and provides instructions on procedures.
- Positions patient and adjusts equipment, selecting length and intensity for radiation exposure on an individual basis.
- Observes patient for vital signs during the procedure.
- Follows safety standards and uses radiation protection when operating radiologic equipment.
- Develops and processes radiologic film.
- Examines radiologic film for technical properties such as density and contrast, definition, magnification, and distortion.
- Delivers film to radiologists for reading and interpretation.
- Releases patient upon completion of an examination.
- Maintains examination rooms. Stock necessary medical and radiologic supplies.
- Cleans and makes minor adjustments to radiologic equipment.
- Attends required meetings and participates in committees as requested.
- Enhances professional growth and development through in-service meetings and education programs.
- Maintains patient confidentiality.
- Performs related work as required.
Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma/GED. Completion of Technical/Vocational course approved by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
Experience: One year of experience as a radiologic technologist preferred, along with six months of CT experience. Computer experience required.
Certificate/License: Current certification (ARRT) with American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and State of Florida licensure.
