LPN

Performance Requirements:

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:  Knowledge of the principles and skills needed for practical nursing to provide patient care and treatment.  Knowledge of examination, diagnostic, and treatment room  procedures.  Knowledge of medications and their effects on patients.  Knowledge of patient education principles to develop a self-care program.  Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment.  Skill in administering a variety of treatments and medications as directed.  Skill in using various types of equipment for examination and treatment procedures.  Skill in taking vital signs.  Skill in maintaining records and writing reports.  Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, and the public. Ability to interpret, adapt, and apply guidelines and procedures.  Ability to communicate clearly.  

Examples of Duties:  ( This list may not include all of the duties assigned. )

• Performs general nursing care to patients.  Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with nursing standards. 
• Assists with the preparation of equipment and aids physician during treatment, examination, and testing of patients. 
• Observes, records, and reports patient's condition and reaction to drugs and treatments to physicians.  Dispenses medication as directed. 
• Assists when necessary with appointment bookings and ensures preferences are given to patients in emergency situations. Maintains timely flow of patients. 
• Greets patients and prepares them for physician examination.  Screens patents for appropriate information.  Instructs patients in collection of samples tests. 
• Arranges for patient testing and admissions. 
• Responds to and refers incoming telephone calls.  Instructs patient and family regarding medications and treatment instructions.
• Orders, prepares, and instructs patient's charts.  Posts testing and examination results.
• Responsible for preparation of exam rooms including restocking of treatment area.
• Attends required meetings and participates in committees as requested. 
• Participates in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliation.  Attends conferences and workshops. 
• Maintains patient and office confidentiality.
• Performs related work as required. 

Provides professional nursing care and assists in the delivery of health care management for patients.

This position would require strong clinical and critical thinking skills. Must be able to multi-task in a fast paced office environment.

QUALIFICATIONS

This position requires High school diploma or GED along with graduation from an accredited school of nursing. Possession of a Florida State License to practice practical nursing is required.

Experience with an Electronic Medical Records system is preferred. Previous nursing experience along with IV certification is also preferred. Computer experience required.
