Mammographer - Full Time

General Summary of Duties: Responsible for performing mammography procedures.

Examples of Duties: ( This list may not include all of the duties assigned )

• Greets patients and provides instructions on procedures.
• Positions patient and adjusts equipment, selecting length and intensity for radiation exposure on an individual basis.
• Observes patient for vital signs during the procedure.
• Follows safety standards and uses radiation protection when operating radiologic equipment.
• Develops and processes radiologic film.
• Examines radiologic film for technical properties such as density and contrast, definition, magnification, and distortion.
• Delivers film to radiologists for reading and interpretation.
• Releases patient upon completion of an examination.
• Maintains examination rooms. Stock necessary medical and radiologic supplies.
• Cleans and makes minor adjustments to radiologic equipment.
• Attends required meetings and participates in committees as requested.
• Enhances professional growth and development through in-service meetings and education programs.
• Maintains patient confidentiality.
• Performs related work as required.

Qualifications:

Education: High school diploma/GED. Completion of Technical/Vocational course approved by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.

Experience: One year of experience as a radiologic technologist preferred, along with six months of mammography experience. Computer experience required.

Certificate/License: Current certification (ARRT) with American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and State of Florida licensure.
