Pacemaker Technician / Full Time

General Summary of Duties:  Performs AICD testing, AV optimizations, and pacemaker monitoring/testing on patients according to established standards and practices.

Examples of Duties:  (This may not include all of the duties assigned)

• Prepares patient for scheduled testing and explains procedures to patient. 
• Performs AICD testing, AV optimizations, as well as pacemaker monitoring/testing. 
• Delivers results of testing to physicians for interpretation. 
• Maintains records, files, and related information.
• Maintains equipment and orders supplies.
• Participates in clinic educational programs.
• Maintains area in a clean and orderly manner.  Keeps equipment in good working condition.
• Attends require meetings and participates in committees as requested. 
• Enhances professional growth and development through in-service meetings and education programs.
• Maintains patient confidentiality.
• Performs related work as required. 

Performance Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:  Knowledge of defibrillator, pacemaker and AV ops diagnostic testing procedures.  Ability to operate and maintain the necessary equipment to perform testing.  Knowledge of anatomy physiology and cardiology.  Knowledge of common safety hazards and safety precautions to establish and maintain a safe working environment.  Skill in administering a variety of tests as directed. Skill in eliciting appropriate information and gaining cooperation from patients.  Ability to apply written guidelines, procedures, and standardized work practices.  Ability to establish effective working relationships and to communicate effectively.

Education:  High school diploma or GED

Experience:  Minimum of one year experience performing AICD and Pacemaker testing/monitoring.  AV optimization experience preferred.  Computer experience required. 

Certificate/License:  Certified Cardiograph Technician (CCT) certification preferred.
