Pharmacy Technician - Certified

General Summary of Duties: Provides pharmaceutical services while assisting medical personnel with oncology treatment under supervision of a physician in a clinic setting.

Example of Duties:  (This list may not include all of the duties assigned)

• Prepares chemotherapy medications for oncology patients.
• Responsible for maintaining a sanitary work environment and patient area.
• Manages and restocks pharmaceutical inventory and responsible for ordering supplies.
• Keeps record of patient doses and drug mixtures for health and billing purposes.
• Labels pharmaceutical chemicals appropriately and mixes medication solutions using specialized equipment in a sterile work environment.
• Provides assistance as needed to other medical personnel, such as physicians and nurses.
• Performs general pharmaceutical duties to care for patients in accordance with pharmaceutical standards.
• Prepares equipment and may aid the physician during treatment, examination, and testing of patients.
• Works with health professionals, helps mix medicines, counts pills, measures medication, labels and gives instructions for medications.
• Evaluates information for completeness and accuracy.
• Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
• Maintains patient confideniality.
• Performs related work as required.

Qualifications:

Education:  High school diploma or GED. A pharmacy technician certification is required and must be renewed every two years

Experience:  Experience in a fast-paced pharmaceutical environment. Computer experience required.

Certification/License: Pharmacy Technician Certification required.
